Welcome to Burawa National Indigenous Careers Centre

Burawa is a Dharug word meaning ‘up’ or ‘upwards’. Used in the title of our organisation, it reflects our purpose of ‘moving our Mob upwards’.

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to move our Mob upwards by enhancing the information, advice, and support available to Indigenous adults across Australia, empowering them to choose successful pathways to education and fulfilling careers.

We do this by providing innovative, relevant, and culturally safe courses, mentorships, networks, resources, and holistic support services.

Our dream

We envisage Burawa as the go-to platform for our Indigenous community to access all employment and careers related information.

We dream that every Indigenous Australian is supported to pursue the career of their dreams, where their culture is seen as a strength that shapes industries, workplaces, and the lives of others.

Burawa moves our Mob upwards through free advice, cultural supports and tailored short courses that upskill personally and professionally.

We do not discriminate based on your ability, gender, sexuality, religion, or any of our community’s differences that make us great.

If there is anything we can do that makes your experience walking with us better, please contact us.

Burawa Inclusion Diversity

We would like to acknowledge Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islanders as the Traditional Custodians of the lands, waterways, and skies across Australia.

We pay our respects to our Elders past and present, thanking them for paving the way for us. We extend that respect to our emerging leaders, standing side by side with all Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islanders across our great nation.
