Managing Director of Zancott Group of Companies
Cameron is an Arabunna man with extensive family and community connections to the Aboriginal communities and traditional owners of the Far North and Upper Spencer Gulf regions of South Australia. Cameron was born and raised in Marree, in Far North South Australia.
Cameron is the Managing Director of the Zancott Group of Companies, an Indigenous owned and operated group. In Adelaide in 2006, Cameron established Zancott Recruitment, a labour hire and recruitment firm with a vision to demonstrate the skill, value and capability of Indigenous business to the marketplace. Cameron has built the company from a small, local South Australian business to a national brand with eight branches across Australia.
In 2017, Cameron partnered with facilities management company, Knight FM, to create Zancott Knight FM, and established Zancott Recruitment Victoria, a Victorian-based recruitment firm. The Zancott Group now comprises six companies, employing more than 700 people nationally. The Zancott Group has a corporate commitment to close the gap in employment by employing Aboriginal people and purchasing from Aboriginal companies wherever possible. Cameron’s companies now work with some of Australia’s largest firms, which trust the Zancott Group to meet their business and corporate objectives.
As a successful Indigenous business owner, Cameron feels strongly about supporting other Aboriginal people to start up their own companies. He has helped businesses in remote regions to become established, by mentoring them through tender processes and by offering access to the Zancott Group skills, processes and business knowledge.
Cameron also mentors Aboriginal students in the senior school years to help them to succeed and progress into university and small business. This is part of Cameron’s ongoing personal commitment – to build the next generation of Aboriginal business leaders and to close the gap in Indigenous employment.
